Sab 1 x Defam Blazers

For those out there in, Mass, New Hampshire, New England, even the whole entire country, you gotta stay up on the upcomers in the game, these are the dudes that grind because they have genuine love for what they do. We were lucky to get up with Sab 1 who is one of the illest artists that is coming out of New England, period. I've followed his work for over a year or so and always wanted to get on something together. But my thought was I wanted to let this dude o.d. on the collab, barely no input came out from my mouth. Yet the joints hit the nose with a hammer.

Support local art, keep tabs on dudes doin big things. Here's the interview:

DN: Yo Sab, how you doin??
Sab: doin good just keepin busy

DN: Good to hear! Where you from and how long have you lived there?
Sab: from eastie (east Boston) born and raised

DN:Dope. So how exactly did you get into customs?
Sab: i kinda just fell into it ... i was in boston picking up sum caps and my boy was at the the same graff shop picking up sum leather paint ..once he explained it too me i was hooked i grabbed the primary colors and started messing with sum beaters and it just progressed to what ya see now

DN: How do you feel about the come up in the art around Mass?
Sab: its ok ..could be a lot better ..it seems a lot of artists gravitate towards the money making aspect of it and not just the love of it .

DN: Yeah I feel you, the value is a lost nowadays. Are you currently heavy within the graff scene?
Sab: naw not too much anymore .. i get up from time to time , old habits die hard but i try to keep it on the leagle eagle side of things ..

DN: How big is your stash? Your custom stash?
Sab: im sittin on like 10 pairs of customs.. 4 are my own personal joints that i aint giving up

DN:How long have you been painting?
Sab: well ive been writting since i was 14 or so with the can , but its only been a few years with the brush

DN: Impressive. Explain the feel behind the Defam blazers:
Sab: i wanted to give them a clean and crisp feel, a fresh color way and sumthing that just flows with the line

DN: They look bananas! So you have worked with Persona Boutique(www.stackboxes.com/blog) up in our hood, how many other shops have you worked with?
Sab: im working right now with a boutique in my area called Foot Traffik in saugus Ma www.footraffik.com and i just did a star wars themed art show in the fenway area hosted by Art Asylum www.artasylumboston.com

DN: All those Star Wars joints are dirty! How do you feel about the market for customs in New England?
Sab: its slowly getting better more people are getting hip to the whole idea , most people dont even understand high end sneaker customizing, when i tell people i do custom sneakers they assume im spray painting them or using sharpies its only untill i show them werks when there jaw dropps and they say YOU did that or when im rockin a pair ill tell um i made um and there like ohh yea nike id right ?..lol

DN: What are you working on now?
Sab:i always got a few new things in the mix .. aint droppin the ball just yet .. gonna have to stay tuned to find out

DN:What are you biggest influences in the overall culture?
Sab:banksy is one of my biggest inspirations, he doesnt worry about money or fame he just creates because its in him in, dude just thinks so far outa the box its insane. as far as music i dig on classic hip hop like illmatic ,ready to die, guess whos back, reasonable doubt stuff like that gets me motivated ...

DN: Yeah Bansky's a beast. Where would you like to see your art go in 5 years?
Sab: honestly id like to be running my own shop or gallery just wanna keep progressing and see where i can take this

DN:What was the longest custom you have done?
Sab:probably my cobra commanders .. on top of the crazy detail i put into um i had like three customer orders i had to finish in the middle of the whole process so they took me like 3 months off and on

DN:Yo, thank you for the interview, we wish you nothing but success in the future! Sab 1 x Defam all day! Shout outs:

just want to thank the people who have been supporting me along the way -My family and friends, Persona, Art Asylum, Foot Traffik, Defamation Nation and all the customizers on ISS that have helped me through my early stages
